Christopher Lee was born in London in 1922, the son of a British army
colonel and a Contessa descended from one of Italy's most noble
families. Lee was a decorated officer in the Royal Air Force during WW2,
pursuing his acting ambitions after the war ended. His screen credits
include numerous portrayals of Dracula, as well as Rasputin, Fu Manchu
and The Mummy. He is unique in that he has portrayed not only Sherlock
Holmes on the silver screen, but also Holmes' brother Mycroft ... not to
mention Sir Henry Baskerville in the Sherlock Holmes mystery "The Hound
of the Baskervilles." |
